Following is a description of the facility, which is a welcome addition to Long Island’s high-tech capabilities and offerings.
The Composite Prototyping Center is a Total Resource for Manufacturers seeking entry into the rapidly growing composites Market
As NYSTAR’s designated Regional Technology Development Center (RTDC) for Long Island, and to help manufacturers grow and prosper, the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT) has created the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Center (AMMTIC) d/b/a Composite Prototyping Center (CPC). CPC is a 25,000 sq. facility; strategically located in Plainview, NY in close proximity to Long Island’s major thoroughfares.
CPC’s core mission is to take the best assets available to form a core manufacturing competency in the rapidly growing composites market, while providing companies with essential training/workforce development, process technologies, prototype manufacturing and testing capabilities. This will enable companies to meet the advance manufacturing supply chain needs of prime contractors.
CPC’s objectives include:
-
Become the premier resource for composites prototype production for application across diverse markets, from aerospace, automotive and defense to energy, infrastructure, transportation and sporting goods.
-
Assist companies to become qualified suppliers to the primes for composite components/assemblies.
-
Continue to secure government grants as well as private funds to facilitate CPC’s growth and development including the development of additional facilities within New York State.
-
Develop multilevel certificate and degree programs consisting of advanced composite technologies for post- Secondary and Undergraduate students thereby creating a highly-skilled workforce.
CPC’s staff consists of experienced advanced material manufacturing professionals who have been at the forefront of state-of-the-art composite manufacturing in both the aerospace and defense sectors. This knowledgeable staff will provide hands-on training and support to participating manufacturers and their employees.
